An impossible pic - completely undoctored, it's a fluke capture of U Bend's face in infrared superimposed over a saturated green strobe flash ... now I can see how all this fake 'ghost' footage comes about ...

THE REASON WHY THE SOUTH WEST DIARY WON'T PRINT 'FIRE HASH'

I wondered why Buzby hadn't included 'Fire Hash' in the details for November 29th ... here is his reply, which I find astonishing:

Not knowing personally, I can't speak from experience, however I have been told that some have been put off by some of your antics on trail and have therefore made a decision to include only the basics. DORIS - HER ACHIEVEMENT OF 1000 RUNS

Doris (nerd name Hilary Bondi) started hashing in 1984 and has just reached the landmark of her 1000^th run with a single hash: the Teign Valley Hash House Harriers. She is probably the first person in Devon to have ever done so*.

Doris loves Guinness and as she hashes 4 nights a week and based on her average consumption it is estimated that since 1984 she has drunk 10,000 pints of Guinness, who sponsored her with a fantastic T Shirt commemorating this achievement, although she would have preferred a lifetime supply of Guinness!

The evening was a great success celebrated by many friends from both the Teign Valley and other hashes, the run had a break at a special Guinness drink stop followed by a buffet and a Guinness cake kindly provided by Captain Pugwash, the landlord of the Teign House Inn (only a few landlords are honoured with a hash name).

The evening was a total surprise to Doris as friends from other hashes started to arrive “is that Porkie, what’s he doing here?”. “What a wonderful surprise, I had no idea, I love the shirt” she later declared.

* Rambo understates the achievement - very few hashers world-wide have attained 1000 runs - it is usually a case of an actual hash celebrating this milestone - a great feat in any event.
