I made it ... video
A bit of a rush as I'd been to Maidencombe and back to retrieve the Cruisedog ... (see story below)
Regret there was no circle footage ...
... at Haytor as I must relate a sad and somewhat embarrassing story to you. Having lost the outside gate keys (at Chudleigh in February) I have to scale the six foot fence to get out and similarly rescale it to get back in to ensure that CRUISEDOG TOWERS is fortified in my absence. So you see that it's not straightforward coming and going at my gaff. Anyway, this evening I had got everything ready nice and early and had told dear old Mum that I was at the Carpenters Arms and was taking the Cruisedog for a run on Dartmoor. Being somewhat forgetful, I had made a checklist of equipment needed and walking up the path had read aloud the list: Cams, batteries, wallet, change of clothes, shoes, towel and cell phone. Now usually when going to the hash sans dog, I put my bag the other side of the gate, lock the gate by hand inside, climb over the gate and collect the bag ... (though that hasn't always been foolproof as one week I climbed over the fence and forgot to pick up the bag ...) but with Deputy Dawg it was a bit more technical ... not wishing to have Cruisedog run into the road while I was climbing over the fence, I had left him in the garden while I put my bag in the boot Beasley. I went down the path, checked the gate was locked and drove off ----- WITHOUT the dog! I got all the way to the top car park at Haytor and opened the door of the car, went to the boot, opened it and then realised: 'I'VE LEFT CRUISEDOG IN THE GARDEN!' .... I went over to a bemused Teapot and said: "Mark me as here and I'll be back to do the run later - much later!" Twenty four minutes later (12 miles) I climbed over the fence to find Cruisedog sitting patiently waiting for me. Another 24 minutes later and I was leaving the top car park with Cruisedog and thinking that I'd never see the hash this particular night. But fortunately for us, the Poach had taken the pack on 'Silly Sod Manoeuvres' for half an hour and after only a few hundred yards after the first check (now I know how important it is to have the checks kicked out for latecomers) I espied the hash streaming up the moor about half a mile away! That's 'andy 'Arry, pop it in the oven ...
So now you know why I wasn't at the circle tonight ....... sigh

Bring your wet weather gear ...
Taking no chances up on the windswept moor ... packing emergency tent and survival gear ... I hate inland hashes ...
